Surrounded by rivers, streams, lakes, parks and hiking trails, there is always somewhere beautiful to go here every single day of the week. Captivating mountain views, beautiful farm lands and awesome summer weather, it is no wonder so many people choose Chilliwack for as a staycation holiday. Here is a list of 10 things you can do while visiting Chilliwack BC.
1/Take a Walk or Cycle along the Vedder River. A gravel road way path heads far along the river surrounded by water front rails that can be explored along the way. Stop for a picnic,go fishing or pick some berries along the way.
2/Drive up to to the main beach at Cultus Lake and go for a swim. There is a kids park at the beach, lots of parking and a great place for a picnic or barbecue. Take the boat out to the boat launch or book a campsite at any of the local campgrounds.
3/Check out downtown Chilliwack for its scenic shops and quaint cafes. It may seem small at first but once you start to venture out and visit each and every store, you see that sometimes a little is more than a lot! Make sure to bring a large shopping bag so you can pick up some souvenirs and goodies to take home with you.
4/Visit Cheam Wetlands park. Don’t forget to bring your binoculars. Surrounded by the beauty of the wetlands and the trails you are sure to see all types of birds, frogs, beavers, deer and garter snakes traveling across the path. Picnic tables are available on site.
5/Check out the Cultus Lake water park. If you love swimming in pools and waterslides, this a great day of fun for the whole family.
6/Walk across the street and play a game of mini golf and then make plans for dinner at the local pizza shop or any of the restaurants and pubs in the area.
7/Feel like some Golf? Chilliwack has many beautiful golf courses that include the Cultus Lake Course, the Chilliwack Golf and Country Club, Meadowlands, Cheam Golf Course and Kinkora in Sardis.
8/Go visit the ducks at Sardis park and bring your camera to snap some photos of our famous Canada Geese. You will be amazed at the multitude of geese that call this park home. A small sized park located in the residential area of town and good for a short brisk walk on a summer evening.
9/Have lunch at the Garrison Bistro offering superb French Cuisine in the quaint little village town of Garrison or have lunch on the patio at Prestons located in the Coast Hotel overlooking a beautiful water fountain and city park.
10/ Take a stroll through the village of Garrison then visit the local community centre (Cheam Pool) for a work-out and a swim or visit the public park equipped with a playground and water park for the little ones to run around in.
